  • Your Mental Health is important. Individuals living with serious mental illness face an increased risk of having chronic medical conditions.

  • Mental health disorders in children, adolescents, and adults can be caused by biology, environment, or a combination of both.

  • Many of the symptoms and much if the distress associated with mental, emotional and/or behavioral problems may be alleviated with timely and appropriate treatment and support services.

  • Racial and ethnic minorities are less likely to have access to mental health services and often receive a poorer quality of care.

  • Fewer than one-third of adults and one-half of children with diagnosable mental disorders receive mental services in a given year.

  • When untreated, mental health disorders can lead to family conflicts, drug abuse, violence, and even suicide.
